MediaGallery.org is a gallery and a digest under one roof. The gallery is for looking. The digest is for knowing what you’re looking at.
Photographs, film stills, video, posters and archive scans sit next to short write-ups on the stories behind them. Who took the picture, why it mattered, how it got out into the world. If an image is worth a second look, we’d like you to have the context to make it a good one.
What you’ll find here
Photography and film get the most space, along with video, design and the business of media. Some posts are practical, like how to trace a viral image back to its source or what a Creative Commons license lets you do. Others are just pictures and a few honest lines about them.
How we work
Captions say what you’re looking at. Summaries say why you’d bother. We credit photographers and creators, we label AI-generated images as AI-generated, and we say so when we’re not sure of something. Posts stay short because your time is worth more than our word count.
